Quote from James A.Hart on June 29, 2025, 11:50 amIf you’ve been in business long enough, you’ve probably seen those meme graphics showing the rollercoaster of entrepreneurship:
One day you’re a genius.
The next, you’re a total failure.Both reactions?
Terrible for your mental health. That’s why I believe meditation is one of the most important tools an entrepreneur can use. Not because it’s trendy — but because it actually gives you a moment of choice before your mind reacts.
A moment to pause, and decide whether you’ll spiral or stay grounded.Over the years, I’ve tried a wide range of meditation techniques.
The one I always come back to is the Waking Up app by Sam Harris.
It’s not spiritual or religious — it’s an agnostic, direct approach to mindfulness that helps you feel the benefits quickly. Clearer thoughts, less reactivity, and a more balanced mind.More recently, I’ve experimented with a more intense practice: sitting silently for one hour per day, just watching thoughts arise and fall.
It’s not easy. But eventually, your mind gives up trying to hijack your attention — and something incredible happens:
mental inbox zero.
You see things clearly.
You respond instead of react. Now, I get it — not everyone has the time (or the patience) to sit for an hour a day. But like anything that matters, you get out what you put in.
