When Starting a New SEO Project, What Should Your #1 Goal Be?

Is it:
A. Traffic?
B. High Google rankings?
C. Cash flow?
D. Your mom?

If you answered C – cash flow — high five.
If not, let’s talk.

Building a website costs something.
Maybe it’s your time, if you’re writing all the content yourself.
Or it’s cold, hard cash, if you’re outsourcing writers, designers, and tools.
Either way — it’s an investment.
And your website? That’s the asset.

Here’s the thing: most investments work like this — you pay once, and it starts generating cash flow almost immediately.
Think: buy a house, rent it out the next month.

What you don’t want is to buy a house… and the renters don’t show up for 6 months.

Unfortunately, that’s what happens to a lot of SEO projects.
You spend time and money building a site — but you’re stuck in the red with no returns for months.

That’s why cash flow should be your first milestone.
Not because revenue is everything — but because once your site earns even a little, your emotional state changes.
You go from “I hope this works” to “I’m going to scale this.”
And that confidence unlocks better decisions, faster growth, and stronger consistency.

So when you launch a site, don’t just chase rankings or traffic.
Chase profitability.
Then scale the hell out of it.
