Publishing one or two articles on a topic? That’s a start — but not enough.
What Google wants is depth. When a site covers every relevant topic within a niche, Google starts treating it as a definitive source — a topical authority. Once that happens, your rankings across that niche can skyrocket.

Topical Authority is Niche-Specific

Topical authority doesn’t apply across your whole site — it applies by category.
For example, if a website is a topical authority in affiliate marketing, then nearly any post related to that field has a much better chance of landing on page one. But that same authority doesn’t transfer to unrelated topics like travel or fitness.

Why Timing Matters

Google typically evaluates topical authority during core algorithm updates.
That means between updates, you have a window to go all-in on one sub-niche at a time — and complete it.
