Stop Overthinking SEO: Focus on These 4 Essentials

Many people make SEO more complicated than it needs to be. The core of effective on-page SEO comes down to getting the target keyword in four key places:

  • Title tag
  • H1 heading
  • URL
  • Paragraph text

Nailing these four elements already covers about 60–70% of what truly matters in SEO.

One important note: never change the URL of an already-established page. Doing so resets the page’s SEO value in Google’s eyes. This approach should be applied only to new content moving forward.

Also, it’s important that the title tag and H1 match. Google has explicitly stated (as recently as October) that it prefers consistency between these two elements.

No need to over-engineer things. Stick to the basics, and results will follow.
