How to Make AI Content Not Smell Like AI Content

If you’ve read enough AI-generated content, you can practically smell it from a mile away. It’s not always wrong — it’s just off. Same odd phrases. Same awkward formality. Same robotic rhythm.

Let’s fix that.

Why AI Content Feels Off

AI tools have a habit of recycling the same overused, unnatural vocabulary. Phrases like:

“In today’s digital era, to navigate the art of SEO, one must unlock the secrets of digitalization.”

No human talks like that. No one should write like that either.

The Solution: Encourage Perplexity

To break this pattern, you want your content to sound more unpredictable — more human. This is where the “perplexity” trick comes in.

Here’s a modified prompt that forces the AI to be more dynamic:

“Avoid using the following words more than twice: unique, ensure, utmost. Also avoid filler phrases like ‘meticulously navigating,’ ‘in the realm of,’ or anything that sounds like it came from a fantasy novel written by a corporate intern.”

The Result

With this tweak, your AI content becomes snappier, less bloated, and less cringe. It also becomes more bursty — meaning varied sentence lengths, better rhythm, and fewer “giggle-worthy” paragraphs.
