Instead of guessing where to pitch, you can use their data to your advantage.

Here’s how:

Step 2: Use Content Explorer (Ahrefs)

Open Ahrefs Content Explorer

Type in:

“by [Author Name]” -site:theirwebsite.com

  1.  This command filters results to show only articles written
    by that author on third-party sites—likely guest posts.
  2. Browse through the results.
    These are sites that have already published guest content from your competitor.
    They’re more likely to accept a post from you, too.

Step 3: Reach Out and Pitch

Once you’ve identified a list of relevant sites:

  • Review their existing content
  • Identify gaps or opportunities
  • Send a personalized outreach email offering to contribute a high-quality, relevant article
