Quote from James A.Hart on July 14, 2025, 9:45 amDid you know a short story written entirely by AI recently won one of Japan’s most prestigious literary awards?
It’s impressive—but not that surprising anymore.
AI can now write content so well that even humans can’t always tell the difference. But here’s the real question:
Can Google’s algorithm detect whether your content is written by AI?Spoiler alert: It can’t.
In fact, OpenAI themselves released a statement last year admitting that AI detectors don’t work.
To quote directly:
“No tool can reliably distinguish between AI-generated and human-generated content.”
And the data backs it up.
A 2023 study tested the accuracy of various AI detection tools on content produced by ChatGPT-3.5
(which isn’t even the latest version). The average detection accuracy? Around 50%.
That’s basically a coin toss.
My favorite example?
The U.S. Constitution—written in 1787—was flagged by one of these tools as AI-generated.Seriously.
So the next time someone panics about AI-written content being “detected,” you’ll know better.
